monochrome meditations

Artist's Statement

The words of Alfred Stieglitz, written over a hundred years ago, express very well my own feelings towards photography:

I like my photography straight, unmanipulated, devoid of all tricks ... living through its own inherent qualities and revealing its own spirit.

Thmas L. McCartney is another photographer that I can identify with:

I photograph to heighten and strengthen my awareness of the sublime beauty and grandeur of nature - to become one with nature.

Making photographs is for me like meditation, a way of getting into intimate touch with the visible world around me, and through it, with myself.

I photograph anything that attracts me, excites me or moves me. I am not interested in simply recording places I have been, that to me is not art. I am interested in shapes, forms and textures and find them in abundance in my local landscape.
